Default Trunk lid hard to latch ****

I've tried to adjust and align the trunk lid to have it close smoothly. I have to grab the truck lid, pull it to the right and then slam it down hard to shut it. Just bought thos 03 a few weeks ago, 247k miles. Carfax report that this has been a problem for a while, and it obviously wasn't fixed. Any ideas out there? Similar problems for anyone?

Does the latch pulldown on its own when you get it close, like auto shut?

If it's about the auto trunk latch not latching and locking into place, try before you close it, try pulling on the fluorescent internal trunk handle. It resets or fully unlocks the trunk latch to the open position. Then if you close it it may latch on properly. That's how I fixed my trunk latch issue. If I don't pull on the internal handle to release the latch, it wouldn't latch shut.

This worked great. Did find some broken black plastic junk up inside the latch. Took that out and it worked well. Pulling on the glow in the dark handle works
