Default Trunk hydraulic lifts

On my 2004 GS3, the trunk didn't come with any kind of lifts that support the trunk when open. First car I've ever seen with this issue.

What kind of solutions have you guys tired?

Any DIY's ?

Thanks,

C

So if you unlock the trunk and open it does it fall back down?

Correct.

On level ground this is not a problem.

But on a sloped driveway or any incline, this is a big problem.

Post pics of your trunk so folks can see what might be missing.

Also, try adjusting the tension

Open the truck and there should be two metal rods running the width of the trunk make sure they are not unhooked. If they are not you can tight them buy removing the side trunk interior panels and there are multiple slots to tighten the trunk lid. Mine is factory set and there is not much spring I have to yell at my boys not to slam the trunk all the time. I'm doing a stereo up grade right now and notice the slots yesterday think I will increase the tension while I'm in there.
