I will let it sit in the bank until i find a near mint blue one like the one i have enjoyed for 9 years.Hope to be part of this great site again, soon.
Congrats and no hurry, the longer it takes, the less the replacement will cost. Or, maybe you decide there's something else you prefer. There are times I tell myself, man, not a single car we own is even 5 figures anymore, but what the heck, no payments either....and all the cars seem to be dependable and stylish.

Accidents suck. The reason I have my 430 is because some jackhole made an unsafe turn and totaled my Kia Optima on a hit & run. Insurance gave me $15,900 minus the $9,000 I still owed on it. Still going after the other party. Some guy who doesn't speak a lick of English took his sister's car w/o permission, allegedly. He turned himself in 3 weeks later - unsafe turn, driving w/o a license and leaving the scene.

Wow! You got a nice settlement check. I'm sorry it happened but glad they took care of you. I didn't think they valued our cars that high. How many miles do you have? Was it an Ultra Luxury?

I cancelled the full coverage on my '01 a while back to save money, but maybe that was a bad idea. Of course mine has 216K miles and just a base model with Nav, so maybe mine is not so valuable.

I totaled a 1993 sc400 in 2017 and got $6500 for it.I always carry full coverage even on my 86 mr2 i sold in 2015.
The difference is usually $20.here are some pictures of my totaled sc.It sold for$900

That was a nice SC400!! I want to buy your old cars lol

Well, you got me thinking on this one. I'm going to get the numbers together and consider adding back my full coverage.

I think your area plays a big part too, but this is just a guess. I missed out on a pretty decent (judging by the pics only) 2006 with 155K that was selling for $3,200 out the door by a dealer. I can only imagine how low wholesale is on the LS in my area.

In general, good condition 04 - 06 430's with 150k are closer for 8 or 9k. SC's hold their value even more.

Amazing. If they are going to repair it to then retail it you can expect a subpar job.

I'm not in the salvage business, but how long would it take to recoup $5600 by parting out an LS430? I'd be interested to know. Engines just about never go....Transmission? Possibly. Seats and trim...absolutely. I'd love to figure it out! lol

In the global world i would think parts are shipped all over the world. The auction i watch on line bidding was from all over the world.

I'm in the car business sometimes / rarely...licensed dealer in CA. $5600 plus fees is near $6K which seems pretty high for parts, but I'm not an expert on salvage value so not sure. A lot of the cars I see at salvage auctions go offshore to Mexico, Asia and Eastern Europe for cheap repairs and a quick cleansing of the title and then they are resold with no mention of the previous damage.

It's not possible to get away with that in the US any more as the "salvage title" follows the car to every state where it might be registered. It's extremely common internationally though. If your LS is headed to NJ it may be on it's way to a second life in Ukraine, Romania, etc.

Another possibility is that it could be repaired and end up as an Uber or a "scab cab" in the greater NYC area where it could accumulate many hundreds of thousands of miles.

Just my thoughts.

My 2000 GS 300 was totaled by the a rear end collision where the quarter panels were slight rippled. Still drove good. It got a salvage title and ended up in the UAE.

Doesn't Uber require a later model car?
