Just an FYI thread. These trunks all have pull down or soft close feature. Almost got my fingers once, had to jerk them out quick.... Anyway wife wedged something, or didn't get something fully in the trunk and it closed down on that, overstressed and quit working.
The only way to open the trunk was with the key. Pain in the butt. But at least we still could get it open and closed.
Finally got around to fixing. Found a used trunk actuator on Ebay for ~ $90. Installed. Everything works again. Took the original apart and the gear is broken. Checked the motor, it still works. Anyone know where to get a spare gear?
actuator hanging down. the metal/plastic gear on right is sitting loose. the worm drives on the plastic, which has a radial crack.
