Not sure how or not sure when but my trunk stopped opening. Took it to the dealership and theyre looking to throw me a $1000 bill to fix it. Trying to get around this. Supposedly my trunk latch assembly is bad and I need a new one.

Any ideas where I can get one? Willing to get a used part, just not sure where to look to find one.

What symptoms, whats going on with your current latch mechanism?

does it work with the pull latch in the interior, the key manually and or the remote on the key.

if it works manually i would suggest spraying some wd40 all around the latch, also check the trunk portion of the latch mine had bent and was rubbing on the frame i took a flat head screwdriver and bent it back and works flawless.

I believe mine bent do to strut failure and falling trunk lid before struts were replaced

I'm having issue with my LS 430 01. I think I may have bent something with having my suitcase in it last night. When I pop trunk, it won't easily open. Then when it closes, the motor won't engage. I have pulled the lever inside which engages the motor. What is most irritating are lights flashing and buzzer inside telling me trunk open when it is obviously closed. Any ideas??
