Trunk Lift Supports specs
Has anyone compared these two trunk supports. I cant seem find any reliable specs for them
Strong Arm 6415 vs Sachs/Stabilus SG429032
In one spec Strong Arm force is listed as 152 lbs (Strong Arm Specs) and Stabilus as 26 lbs (Stabilus Specs).
This can not be correct!!

I'd go Stabilus as long as the car currently has ball studs that are not permanently attached to the struts, like from the factory. Stabilus is OEM to BMW and I got them for my BMW at a fraction of the OE BMW price. imho they are far superior to the Monroes I used on the LS. The only thing is the first time the hood struts get replaced on the LS430, the ball studs cannot be separated from the Tokico OE struts, therefore one is forced to buy replacements that come with the ball studs. Stabilus does not come with them, but are absolutely a top notch product worldwide.

I bought mine from Lift Supports Depot on eBay (username mrlousstuff) with lifetime warranty. The hood and rear door support in my Land Cruiser has been installed for several years with no problem, so I am a big believer of their products. I am going to replace the hood support in the LS when the weather is a bit warmer, and nicer to work outside.

Thank you all for your input.
I am sure most of these are all good but which one is closest to the original and is best balanced so that the trunk opens the right amount and can be closed down with correct amount of force and does not slam. The only way to tell if I had the specs on the forces for the Tokico, Strong Arm and Stabilus.

Four years ago I installed StrongArm supports with "added lifting force". After 4 years with these supports, I still find that they are almost the same as when I bought them. Unfortunately, I thought that they had a bit too much support as the trunk requires more force to pull down than I'd like. I wouldn't recommend the ones with "added lifting force". Stick with their version of OEM replacement.

When I went to look at my LS430 at the GMC dealer (before purchase), two things I remember. One, there seemed to be a lot of white coming from the exhaust, is that just water vapor? Two, the salesman went to get a license plate, so I popped the hood, and it fell on my head.
When we were at an event, we popped the hood of a new 760Li M Sport, and the struts prominently said Stabilus with the BMW logo. On my BMW, I have Stabilus without the BMW logo so they were barely $20 each, to BMW's $78 list. They make great products and I am itching to get them in the LS as already the Monroes are not 100% (just over 2 yrs).
Have a look at how affordable usually in life good products are marked way up, not with Stabilus. Too bad cars with trunk struts seem to be gone today.

For our cars, $11.74 each for the hood, $14.49 for the trunk, and that kind of quality, fuggediboudit.

I installed the FIGS trunk struts to replace my failing OEM struts, ten years ago on this exact day actually (I keep good records). They still work perfectly fine, I even opened the trunk earlier today.

These say "50% force increase to provide better lifting and longer service life", so it may last longer but will make closing the trunk harder I think.

I bought some cheapos from Amazon (Henkeyi) and they were utter crap. Too long so once they were installed, they popped off randomly. I switched to Strong Arms and they're great.
