Angry LPG conversion - smell in cabin?

Largely following my very positive experience over the years my Son is looking to abandon Mercedes for Lexus.

He has his eye on a GS450 2005. 114k miles. but excellent price. However upon inspection and after a short trial run
we experienced a very strong smell of LPG in the cabin . The owner says "Yeah, but it goes away after a while"
Can any LPG converts confirm it is normal to get a strong smell of the gas in the car?

Smell = leak some where. You have to find it where. Dangerous.

Htony. Thanks a million for such a rapid response. You are spot on, we have since discovered this motor has been in a front end smack.

The car was described as having 'fair wear and tear for it's age' No disclosure about any problem. We have taken action to have the ad., pulled.
Hopefully, somebody has been spared a dangerous purchase.
