Default Help Locating clean 05-06 - Not Base

I need help finding the right car.

I have connected with another ClubLexus member who has helped me a lot and pointed me to cars as we are looking on different price ranges. The idea came to me that perhaps others are also looking or coming across good ones and can send them to me. My budget is open.

I’m no longer set on Ultra Lux and will be fine with any other package, as long as it’s not Base. I’m also open to all colors, except that Burgundi red color.

Ideally, I’d like a one-owner with timing belt done if more than 80K miles. I’d like mileage below 150K, would love below 100K. I will selectively look at 2-owners but not 3.

I’m actively looking on CarGurus with a 500 miles ratio and multiple cities on Craigslist. I live in New York City but will fly for the right car.

I’ll be eternally grateful and would like to extend similar help/favors to others in the future.

There has been a Cypress Pearl/Cashmere ML '04 on the Dayton, OH, Craigslist since at least Summer. It has 57,000 miles and the owner has not moved from the (too high) asking price of $14,500. Ohio is a 2 plate state and it shows no evidence of ever having a front plate, so it's hard to say what its history might be. Not that it means anything, but it does look like a nice car from the photos. The owner has it listed as a "LS430," so use that to search CL. Sorry, have never had success supplying a link to anything!

Not a ton of listings are up in Marketplace, but this one seems interesting

No luck yet. I've narrowed down my colors to black and dark Navy blue. I'd also prefer Custom Luxury over Modern Luxury.

But will consider Modern Luxury as well.

Open to Flint Mica and Silver too.

There are a bunch for sale in NC/ SC /GA area , and they won't have any rust on them because of the mild winters. Check Facebook marketplace, that is where I found my LS430

Smokey, thanks for this but my preference is within 1000 miles from NYC since I want to drive it back.

Price is somewhat on the higher side but after all it is a California car. looks like a "real one". Nice interior and seats. If all checks out $8,500-$9,000 tops might work. Oh I forgot, OP lives in NY.....Oh well.

BocaTrip, to go to California from New York, when other cars may be available in the Northeast, Florida or Washington DC areas does not make sense. I could travel up to 1000 miles because I plan to make it a road trip on my way back, but all the way to California doesn't make financial or vacation sense to me.

I see that many others are looking to purchase LS430s and that even existing owners browse the classifieds too. I'd like to see a thread where those good finds are thrown for reference.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I only realized the OP was from NY after finishing the post. You are absolutely right. You should be able to find something way more convenient than Cali. Good luck and keep us posted.

Buy it and ship it. I shipped a car from Tuscon for about $1k.

You have been looking for over a year. This car will be much cleaner than a car from the Northeast. The better condition and lack of potential rust are worth more than the freight cost. These cars are like lakefront property, they are not making any more. Unlike lakefront property, they are not here for eternity as they get older with more miles every day. Opinions differ but some who are knowledgeable and experienced with an LS consider the Custom Luxury package to be the most desirable.

Again, buy it and ship it.

How do I go about finding shipping companies that transport cars? Are there companies that specialize in cars? Is there a directory or a service others have used and can recommend?

I have used UShip.com in the past where you enter the shipment and truckers and companies bid on it. You select the one you like.

Any guidance will be appreciate it since I can't seem to find a good candidate close to NYC.

Just use Google and you'll come up with a large number of shipping companies. Being in NYC might help a bit on the rate since so much flows through there. Although I don't remember the number now, I was shocked last year when seeking quotes to ship a vehicle from RI to OH and was further put off by inconvenient scheduling. Good luck!

Hire a company to check the car out for you first. They usually take many pictures for you to go over. If it passes, go for the shipping option. I purchased my Jaguar XK the same way. I had it checked by an independent company out in Penn and after had it shipped to Florida. Of course I did fly up to Penn. to inpsect it myself in person. Good luck.
