Radio static apon startup
Hello. 01 ls430 ul, 165,000 mi.
I have several intermittent problems, maybe all related. Every time I start the car after having sat overnight, after about 1-2 seconds there is a LOUD
screech (static crackle) from the car speakers. Drives wife crazy. Does not do it the rest of the day after car has been driven, warmed up. Once so far,
the radio volume output was zero apon startup, then fine an hour later after shopping and starting car. The volume issue has not re-acured.
The loud speaker noise has been going on for about 6 months. No codes. This may be the radio Amp. or a loose connection. Mark Levenson, with nav. Jon

Hi, sounds like the ML amp is failing. I have a 2004 Ls430 and last year the exact same thing happened to me. It didnt seem to get worse in duration but it was very very annoying when the ignition was first turned on. Mine also started doing a shorter hiss or dull pop when i turned the car off too. Parts are very expensive where i am, and there are very few repair options in my country so i had to buy a fully reconditioned one for $900!! I installed it myself when it arrived and no problems since. Sadly it is a very common issue with the ML amps but you will probably find cheaper repair options for the amp if you live in the USA. I have read its around the $400 mark or maybe less now i think.

Question for the OP: Does it make the loud crackling noise after startup even though you turned off the system before previously turning off the car???
My mistake i confused it with something else that happened to one of my aftermarket amps.

More issues than static
Things are getting worse. The sunroof opened all by itself, three times in about ten minutes going down the freeway a week ago, not done it since.
Headlights fail to come on automatically at dark, just daytime running lights. Lights work with stalk switch. I think it's all related. ??? Jon.
