Default Major radio/audio problems......

I have an '01 GS300 with the Mark Levinson Navigation system. I got off work tonight and after about 5 minutes of driving my radio started making EXTREMLY loud popping sounds. I turned off my radio and the popping continued. It sounded like my radio and / or speakers were shorting out. When I say loud, it sounded like my radio was turned up all the way when the popping started. I jumped when it first happened. It scared the hell out of me.

I talked to Lexus service in Hawaii since everyone around here is closed and he told me to pull the main audio fuse which stopped it. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Sounds like your ML amp went bad. I think a few other people here have had that issue too. Maybe they can chime in.

Has anybody have the annoying sound from the speakers when your cell phone rings? How can I get rid of that? I'm thinking it's the stock amp

indigo, i had my ML amp go out, it would only work once in a while (sometimes when i hit a bump or if it was really cold out), then, if it was working, it would CRANK up the volume by itself for 3 seconds scaring the crap out of me going down the highway. Also sometimes it would make the static noise really loud. It blew out a tweeter. Lexus quoted me 1200 for the amp + install. I ebayed it for $250 delivered and had circuit city install a matching set of tweeters up front.

btw mine was a 01 also... I think there was a service bulletin about ML amp failures somewhere for this year, seems like quite a few have had the same problem
