Brake caliper swap
Does anyone if the bolt holes for the front caliper would line up with the rear knuckle or does a custom bracket need to be made? I would like to see if throwing a set of 4 pistons on the rear would improve anything.
It'll just make your abs system work harder to keep the rears from locking. Fronts do 70% of your braking so they are larger by design. If the rear outbrakes the front without abs, the rear of the car will pass you in slippery conditions.
Interesting I never gave it any thought, if brake hardware is upgraded, what does that do to the ABS module....I suppose the system still relies upon the sensors to tell it what's going on. Brakes seem to be the place that 95% of the mfgs out there slash costs. Anyone remember when Ford actually started using drums again on the rears of Taurus, when they had already made the switch to 4 discs? Seems like most consumers can't tell that their brakes have been cheapened, even on so called luxury cars....my uncle will tell you that floating calipers is an attempt to even wear on the outer and inner pads. I dunno. All of my first cars had fixed calipers. I had never even seen a floating caliper until I rotated my 1998 Nissan's tires. See? Even I did not look at brake calipers in 1998, enough to notice how puny the brakes were.
