Default 2002 LS 430 - Tilt/Telescope Steering Wheel

My tilt/telescope steering wheel does not telescope. Is it worth trying to repair or do I take it to a dealer?

Personally, I would not try to "repair" the motor, instead, just buy and install a new one.

The telescoping bushing (4576860011) is known to wear out but is very inexpensive from the dealer. Should be under $5.
Here's a great post on the issue https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-write-up.html
I'd try replacing the bushing and during the process you should be able to tell if the motor has failed or not.

Thanks, rkw, for the link. I just discovered I should have said my steering wheel won't "Tilt" and like a bonehead I said the opposite. I searched the forum and found a couple of links, with pictures. If the fuse is okay I think for now I will adjust the steering wheel to my preferred location and leave it at that.

Thanks again and I'm sorry for the confusion I caused.

Thanks for your reply bradland. I discovered I screwed up when I posted and should have said my steering won't "Tilt." For some unknown reason I said the opposite. I found a couple of links on tilting problems and I will check them out tomorrow when I have more time.

Thanks again for you timely post.

Regulator8 can you post links to the threads you found on the issue. I just picked up an '02 LS430 and I have the exact same issue, it won't tilt but it will telescope. Thanks
