Need help - P1663 Code - OCV Circuit Malfunction
Hi everyone,
Back in January of this year, I had a P1354 CEL code, which led to me replacing the Bank 2 (passenger side) oil control valve. When I did this, the two wires that run to the OCV pulled out of the clip. I was able to put them back, and everything was fine, the CEL went away and the car was running great.
Cut to this week, where I now have CEL P1663, which is a OCV Circuit Malfunction for Bank 2. P1354 (along with Check VSC) is also intermittently coming back on. But it started as just P1663 at first.
Is it possible that the wires have maybe just come loose a bit and are causing this circuit malfunction? Surely the problem can't be with the (nearly) brand new OCV itself, right?
The car is still running completely normal as of now - no rough idle and lugging as I had when I had the problem earlier this year.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

- Faulty Oil Control Valve (OCV)
- Oil Control Valve (OCV) harness is open or shorted
- Oil Control Valve (OCV) circuit poor electrical connection
You already mentioned you had an issue with the wires of the harness. That would be the 1st place I'd look. The codes are even saying to look there.
Regarding the CHECK VSC warning-----that seems to be an additional fault displayed whenever there's any sort of code/fault in the system. Think of it as a buy 1 get 1 free! LOL! I would ignore the CHECK VSC, fix the probable issue with the OCV wiring/harness, then clear the code, then report back! Good luck!

I looked up the P1663 online and it literally says----
- Faulty Oil Control Valve (OCV)
- Oil Control Valve (OCV) harness is open or shorted
- Oil Control Valve (OCV) circuit poor electrical connection

If I remember correctly, it was just that the wire to the OCV had become loose. So I re-connected it and it was good!
I believe around a year later I did end up having to replace another one of the OCVs, so they definitely seem to be a bit of a weak point. The good news is they’re not too expensive, and are fairly easy to DIY.
