Default Sourcing Interior Door Panel

Hello,
The armrest on my front driver's side door is badly cracked. Best I can tell from searching the archives, my only real option is to source the entire door panel. Is this correct? If so, where is the best place to look? Ebay has an occasional scruffy looking door panel. Any better sources or options for repair?

Thanks for the help!
Craig

Ebay would be your best bet for something like this. If you are feeling brave you could fix this. I recently redid my armrest and it came out great, although it didn't have cracks. You would need some filler and other stuff, but I don't think it would be too hard. The AEM paint cans worked really great for me.

I have seen a youtube or two about filling cracks. However, after he filled the cracks with a silicone filler he sanded/filled/sanded and then applied matching vinyl on top. It came out great. But as this wasn't on a LS430 the armrest had a convenient way to terminate the new vinyl and tuck away the edges.

I will google other ways to fill/sand/fill and paint though. Maybe it would look ok and there's nothing to lose!

Thanks.

Use a search for "Front Door Trim Panel".

There are many....about $100 or so.

I am faced with this same decision over a cracked driver's door armrest. Parts are getting scarce. Are professional "patches" worth considering? If so, what materials or method should I search up? Many thanks for ideas on this.

Absent finding a matching door panel with the correct wood, a good auto upholstery shop should be able to deal with this I would think.

100s of auto upholstery and trim shops in Illinois with masters of the craft willing to give a price and usually having recent work done examples in the shop waiting to be picked up allowing you to gauge quality of work....

Many thanks for the 'push' to get me to a car upholsterer. It won't get done 'til November, but I'm on the list!

Just got back from a local upholstery shop with a great reputation. He ordered the material and im delivering the door panel to him monday
the turn around is a day. I'll post some before and after pics when its done. He's charging me $200 for everything. Couldn't find a used panel in good condition
so i decided to go this route. Update on next tuesday.
