06 Mercury Metallic grill paint?
After seeing the Colgan carbon fiber bra I ordered one up.
While waiting for it to show up I thought I'd give my somewhat faded grill a coat of paint.
It looks like it was probably painted in the mercury silver.... But with the bra I'm inclined to rattle can it matte black after a thurough cleaning and light sand.
Probably hit with with primer first but wanted to know if the Mercury Silver cars actually came with the silver grill paint? Just cannot tell from my original.
Thanks guys,
Doug k

If you look at my photo of my silver 04 UL with the black Colgan bra, you might notice that my grille is actually not OEM. The OEM grille has gray strips on it. I replaced mine with a grille (exactly like the OEM) except that it is totally chrome. It is rarely noticed, but I like it and gives it a slightly different look. I'm not suggesting that you do that, just that it is the exact opposite of total black. It's all a matter of personal taste. I think both will look good. With a black bra, the black will integrate the grille with the bra, while chrome would give a contrast to the black. Enjoy whatever you like and want.
Black and Chrome ALWAYS looks great, as does your ride Jay.
My road warrior just has a few (dozen?) rock chips and while I have filled them all with the proper code paint, the bra will negate most further damage and cover those aforementioned chips.
The Colgan, with the sensors, plate and headlights/foglights cut so cleanly will be perfect. I am leaning towards the black grill. with just the badge in chrome and the surrounding lights etc... In any case, Thanks for leading me to the Colgan site!
All the best,
Doug k
