Default 09 is250 grill surround BSP on SGM?

Hey Guys,

(I know there are other forum posts on this...)
I will be changing the chrome grill surround that comes standard on our cars (2is). I talked to a car shop I usually deal with and they said painting chrome is difficult, I wanted to have it painted black. I have an SGM 2is. (silver granite mica)

Can I order a black sapphire pearl grille surround from sewell?
it has that gloss black appearance I'm looking for, or will it look off?

Now alternatively, Im looking to get an SGM grille surround, but I am very worried about colour matching! I know the sun isnt very nice to our cars, so I wouldnt want to end up with an "off" grille surround!

The shop said it'd be difficult to paint the grill surround?

Plastidip, my friend. Plastidip. You can color match with Pearlizer after you lay down the base black. I matched the Starfire Pearl with my grill surround in my case.

If you just want a "Black Gloss" then do a Plastidip with a few layer on spray and add glossifier coat on top to give it that gloss shine. It's cheap and it's none permanent. Want details and DIY ? https://www.dipyourcar.com/Videos-and-Guides.html

I have a used one for 09-10 in the classifieds for cheap if you're interested. I ended up vinyl wrapping my current grille and its holding up great.

It isn't real chrome... it is plastic.

I'd assume any reputable shop would sand it well enough beforehand so that adhesion would not be a concern.
