Default 2001 LS430 headlight out

Hey all,

Looking for the most inexpensive way to fix this right now. My driver side headlight went out. It was purple for a day or so and finally is done.

I know these are HID lights so it's it the same thing, just a bulb that I can pick up at any auto parts store, or is there a more complex aspect to this that needs to be addressed.

I did a search here and all I could come up with is LED upgrades, not looking for that. Just to be able to drive the car at night with out getting a ticket.

Dave;
Perhaps this will be of some assistance? I would think the lamp has failed and not the driver.

As far as replacement bulbs, there are hundreds of options on eBay ranging in price from 13.99 all the way up to 100/each

Here's one example;

My 2001 is going up for sale or trade in within a week or 2 so I don't have the ebay time sad to say. Yea, after taking 2 LS460Ls for a ride, it's time to move on.

The symptoms look the same, funny didn't find that on a search. Thanks !

under $40 or so for a Philips D2S 35W #85122 4300K interesting not too bad, should be able to find this locally.

I researched my wife's car "just in case," and hers takes a D1S. It's $55-$60, for a Sylvania Oem equivalent. Not "that" much considering how long they last. It's no different than a regular bulb, just be careful as it's high voltage. We take a D2S....$58.23 on Amazon...

Dave, your 2001 LS430 uses the D2R type bulbs. alternatively, you can use the D2C which will fit both D2S and D2R.

Glad to be of assistance! Another 430 owner moving to a 460, huh? I think my wife would probably throw me out if I started looking at a 460 to replace my 2001...

But, in a few years... We'll see....

Yea, moving to a LS460 L, I have had my 2001 for about 12-13 years now and it's sitting on 244K on it, the timing belt is due and I tossed up and down if I wanted to dump another $1K into a car with these many miles. My LS is not a ultra, so it does not even have Bluetooth (for calls), something that I really wanted for about 6 years now.

So, just for the heck of it, I took a 2007 LS460L for a ride... and yea, I was kind of blown away. I was sold in the first mile of the test drive. Now working through the details with the dealer but, it's looking by next weekend maybe.

I understand. I'm about to hit 150K, so I have a few more years of life on the car. I figure I'll be at 250K in 3 1/2 years or so.

Trust me, I have been looking over the lists with the 2007, and will be CPO certified before I even pick it up. The nice thing the dealer where I am getting at, 2 blocks away there is a Lexus dealer.. They are willing to drop it off for me.

I looked over the 2009 models, just a little to much right now. Didn't want to go very high in cost this round, as we are buying a house soon and we don't want any high loans right now (trying to get the best rate possible)
