Headlight issues and leaking
I have a 2001 Lexus LS430. My passenger headlight has been out. The high beam (and the light when your lights are "off") was working but the normal beam was not. I took it to the auto shop and they said that there's a leak in the headlight and the ballast is messed up and it would cost something like $1.5K to fix. My NYC inspection is not till Feb and I'd really like to avoid incurring this cost. Now the high beam is not even working - the whole passenger headlight is gone.
I've done some research and it looks like to fully replace the passenger side headlight I'd need to purchase the following things:
- Passenger side 2001 LS430 headlight
- Passenger side 2001 LS430 ballast
- Passenger side 2001 LS430 bulb
Would it be that hard for me to replace this myself? I am happy following guides, using tools, but if its very intensive/advanced and involves a lot of soldering I might be better off taking it to the shop.
Thank you.
the headlight assembly. I think there are three screws that you would have to remove. I found a ballast on Ebay I believe for $20- $30.
Here's one listing on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-LS-LS4...1YbGP3&vxp=mtr
The installation is very easy - see diagram below...
