Just want to thank you guys for the constructive criticism and help. Its hard to look at a photo of a car and actually see what its worth.
Drove out the 100 miles to Iowa yesterday after looking at a couple more local LS430's that I just wasnt impressed with.
The new car drives smooth (at least up to 100-110mph) no weird engine noise etc. And, its pretty clean for the mileage 160k (2 owner car). I was happy with the purchase. Deal is done I just have to get back there on Sat to pick it up. Its gonna stay the way it is. The aftermarket? 18" wheels are in good shape and I am just going to maybe fix a small imperfection/dent in the hood, get a MP3 hookup, and drive the thing.
Pics are from the car store website but at least you get an idea.
Good find for the price.... You will enjoy driving the car every day..... Our '01 is still going strong but it is and always has been a "California" car so not abused by weather/snow/salt as in other parts of the country...

Thanks!
Also, I don't mind telling people what I paid just to see where the market is for any other prospective buyers. Nada book had it at $7,200, Dealer had it at 7k. I offered $5,800 and I got it out the door for $6,500. Might be a little higher than what some people would've paid...but the car shows well as was well taken care of.
As long as the history is good, with 161K miles on it, for what you paid, you did fine. You'll need to address the TB in a couple years when you reach the 180,000-190,000 mark, but other than the LCA bushings, you probably won't need to do anything to it for a long while.
Congrats on the new purchase. I have the exact car except the gold badges, same paint and upgraded wheel combination. After driving many cars over the years and having this one for about 9 yrs, I still marvel at the quality of the interior while sitting in traffic, and grin when I floor it to enter the freeway. It's like a fine wine or piece of antique furniture that gets better with time. Enjoy!
Nice!!! Congrats on the purchase man. I just got the same care this year and its a dream. I had also been looking for pics of an 01 LS430 on 18s so I'm glad I found your post! (everyone is doing 20s around here and it seems a bit much/ doesn't maintain the class of the car).
Congrats man, you got a great ride. Its amazing how quiet the cars are. I just got a GS350 and was amazed as how much louder everything is in that car, even the engine idling is very loud. In the LS430 I can barely hear the engine or everything. It feels so well built whenever I get into it. It actually feels more comfortable than my GS I just got this week.
