as long as the engine is maintained , you can red line the uz motors at red line 24hrs a day, these are solid engines.When i was in dubai i would redline 60% of the time in 110 degree weather, another incentive gas was only 60 cents a gallon for super unleaded.

I drive 80+ MPH every day. I generally don't accelerate particularly hard but when I'm passing someone I will take it to redline. I stay on top of maintenance and try to take care of the car but I didn't buy it to baby it. It has a V8 for a reason.

The Tundra has a 4.7 liter engine with an iron block and not every Tundra has VVTi. We have 4.3 liter all-aluminum engines. The Tundra also had a 4 speed automatic the A340. The 2005/2006 Tundras had a 5 speed but it's not the same unit as our car.


Back to the topic -

I can go weeks without spinning the motor over 2k. People tend to drive slower here in the midwest and I'm usually not in a hurry. I always get a chuckle when the car shifts at 1300 rpm - it reminds one that these things got a lot of motor.

My favorite way to accelerate is to get the car to shift at about 3,400 rpm. It's so punchy and the midrange torque curve is thicker than oatmeal with no butter. And whew boy does it hustle. I just wish there were an easy way to keep the revs up, oh well, it gets pretty good milage for what it is.

I drive like an *** most of the time merging onto the freeway since people in California do not know how to merge onto a freeway. The rpm's will usually shoot up to 4-5k rpm at least a few times on a drive and I've redlined the engine maybe a handful of times in the year and a half I've owned the car.

I've heard over and over that the "LS has same engine as a Tundra". Thanks for explaining the technical differences on motors and transmissions.

95 Ls400 here. I drive my car like a formula 1 racecar. high revs a lot. bounced off the rev limiter multiple times. VERY strong engines and they still pull hard at triple digit speeds. took mine all the way to 160 once. I really dog my car but I also take VERY good mechanical condition of it. I always service it when its due, flush the fluids at the miles its supposed to be done at.

at 21 years old and 200k+ miles, she is still healthy as a horse. cant think of very many 20 year old luxury cars you can get away with driving like that. they just don't build em like they used to.

man that brings back the memories....flogging my LX470 through the dubai desert, fully loaded up, A/C on.....never an issue. I remember driving down to Oman 95-100mph hour after hour with a fully loaded LX.....never any issues. Maintain these motors and they are flawless.
