Default 2001 Master Key Gone. What are my options?

2001 Lexus LS430. I lost my one and only Master Key this weekend. I live in WA. Anyone know a good locksmith or what are my options. I know I can buy off of eBay get a blank. But it seems to be getting it cut and reprogrammed. Do I need to replace the ECU? Anything information would help.

I think the dealer can cut your blank key by running your vin. You have to bring the registration with your name on it.

What bout the programming? Would I have to get a new ECU? It has that fob anti-theft feature.

I'm sure they can cut and program without you buying a new ECU. Call the dealer and ask for the price. Prices vary so shop around for the best

Exactly - they dont 'copy' keys, its pulled down from Lexus via VIN. You may want to rob or buy used the transponder portion. At least get a basic style key to get you going. I have a higher end plastic model - very solid.

ECU replacement is not required for 01. You can erase the programming key slot in the ECU if you have Techstream. Some local locksmiths can even program the master key for you. At worst, your dealer can fix you up without having to replace the ECU.
