It's amazing the longevity of these ls430's...
Looking to test drive one at dealership but they didn't have one. I asked the salesman the most miles he's seen on one and he said 500,000+ miles. That's incredible!!! I always hear on this forum, "hoping to get 300,000". The ultimate would be to buy a 300,000 mile ls430and say, "I've put 200,000 miles on it."

I love hearing the high mileage stories of the LS430...or any car for that matter.
There's a million mile LS400 that is still being driven. Somebody bought it with close to a million miles and turned the car into a publicity stunt - the car has been driven by various auto writers and bloggers - it's pretty cool. The thing has even been "tested" on a race track too.

Yeah, it's amazing! Some good stories about it on Jalopnik. If anyone is interested and hasn't read about it yet, check it out.

I'll have to check it out. I'm just now getting into listening to podcasts. I've checked out 'carcast', but not a big fan, even though I'm a Adam Corrola fan. I've been working the night shift, so I have some time on my hands.

Lowballing me is relative. I really don't give much of a hoot about the money offered by a dealership.
Hand them the keys, I drive off with a new vehicle.
Or order a new vehicle over the phone, they offer me x amount....deliver the new vehicle, and drive off in my old vehicle.
$6,500 is what I accepted for it. It's convenient, and I'm up making money with a new vehicle.
I usually don't hold onto vehicles for 8 years, but it was such a nice vehicle. Used it a lot the last few years personally to drive to UFC fights in Vegas.
That car generated $1,300,000.00 while with me.

I love reliability and quality and I never buy new cars, which is the reason I just bought a 2004 LS430 with 122k miles. Incredible condition in & out & underneath. My previous car was a 1985 Mercedes 300D TurboDiesel with 384, 2xx miles. I bought the Benz because it was the previous car that routinely hit 1,000,000 miles on its incredible (but slow by today's standards) engine. I love those cars and would be happy to have one again. But now that they are over 30 years old, time is taking its toll - no matter how well cared for and they just don't compare to what modern cars offer in terms of safety and creature comforts.
I'm very happy that I've updated to the modern version of the million-mile-miracle*. Much more luxury. Fingers crossed that it is oil changes and smooth sailing for another 100,000 miles and the electronics hold up . . .
*by miracle, I mean: extremely well engineered + quality build + attentive and prideful owners
