LS430-Tire tires discussions (The Mother thread)
Actually, both the V and H rated Primacy's have a 60,000 mile warranty from Michelin, but realistically 40,000 miles can be expected with proper rotations and alignment.
Bit the bullet and got the Michelin Primacy MXV4.
The car has 32k miles on it so the originals tires were still on which were Dunlop SP Sport 5000 M. I'm guessing these were standard on the Custom luxury package. Tire Rack calls these Dunlops Ultra High Performance All-season tires while the Primacy is called a Grand Touring All-season tire. Both are H rated.
I wanted low noise and best ride comfort. I was somewhat concerned because some had said they had higher road noise. I've only put 50 miles on them and the road noise difference isn't noticeable to me. Maybe a little more low frequency rumble on concrete or heavily rocked asphalt but not much and this may reduce as I get more mileage on them. The primacys seem to smooth out bumps a little better. I'm still getting a little tire wiggle but I think that will reduce.
I'm satisfied and expecting it to improve with some miles.
I bought them from Tire Rack and got a good installation at a Goodyear place. There is a Michelin rebate going on until August 9 which gives you a $70 rebate on a set of 4. $700 including installation (after rebate) and that was $40 less than Sam's Club and $100 less than from a local dealer.
I got H's because V's were $11 a tire more and I want the softer ride of an H.
This was long but tires are a big deal to me.

Has anyone tried the Yokohama Envigors? Yokohama seems to think they are the end all, be all. They just came out this year, so there aren’t many reviews out there yet.
I just replaced a my half worn set of ContiProContacts on my LS430 with Envigors I purchased from TireRack. I've only driven the car home so far so I can't really post much of a review.

It's likely that the envigors are too new to get much information on them...
I've only seen the tire test results from Tirerack:

I own a 2005 LS430 with 245/45r 18 Dunlop SP 5000 Sport tires. They are quiet and ride nicely however, after 18K, they are ready for replacement. Based on suggestions I have info on the Michelin Primacy MXV4 and Pilot Sport A/S. The dealer pushes the OEM Dunlop SP and a Bridgestone Turanza ER33. Looking for a quiet ride… The car is driven about 12k combined miles per year and we are not aggressive drivers.
Any insight or suggestions of where to focus or what to stay away from? Thanks…

All I can tell you is the Primacys were put on my car by the Lexus dealer about 11k before we bought it and I absolutely love them. Quiet ride, decent sidewall strength and there still appears to be plenty of tread to me. Someone else mentioned on here that they hit a pothole hard enough to damage a wheel or suspension component, and the Primacy tire didn't break!
Whatever you do, stay AWAY from Michelin Energys. Those things are garbage.

Take a look at Continental DWS. They are supposed to last 50k miles. They are cheap ($670ish for a set for the 18s) and people rate them as quiet and comfortable. I have always wanted to try them, actually. If you do get these, please write a review of what you think.
