The negative of over-inflating a tire (which is what you are doing by going to 35 vs. 30) is that the tire will bulge, however slightly, in the middle, causing the car to ride on more of the middle of the tire, vs. evenly on the whole tire. This causes two things - much faster wear on the middle of the tire, causing it to wear out faster, and potentially unstable handling, as there is less tire on the road, allowing it to slide easier etc. 32 is the max that I would go to, if I was looking for a stiffer ride.

i can vouch for the mxv4. The black jade has michelins and consistently get 25-26 mpg at 70-80 with a medium foot almost 30 with a light foot and 60mph. My white 93 cant get better than 23 no matter how slow or light i touch the throttle. the 93 has bf goodrich touring ta's from sam's club. T- rated. Michelins are V rated. Both cars are identical. New Spark plugs and wires and air filters. The only difference is the white 93 has no engine undercover. hmmm i wonder what kinda difference it makes.

255/60/17...wow. Sounds like a Porsche Cayenne sized tire. Are you sure these are on your car?

I personally had good experience with the Falken FK-452.
on a stock rim: 225/45/17
they are ZR rated, takes a heavy load. thread wear is 300 alittle on the soft side so it will wear down faster but pretty sticky.
Smooth ride. thick enough to absorb a lot of the road noise. drops the car a touch. Well, compare to your 60 series it will drop it alot!
pic for ref: (mild 2"drop on suspension the tires did the rest)

No.... 45
thats the neat thing about FK's, they have lo-pros for weird sizes!
ex:
225/45/16 & 215/40/16
235/40/17 even 35/17!

Yea....but 225/45/17 is WAY too low of a profile for an LS...unless you have them on an IS300 or something

I sure hope there has been some better education about tires since the last post on this thread, 5 years ago. Kuhmos? Contis? Surely you can't be serious! On a Lexus?

I've owned every tire out there by brand. Well, ok, damn close. The only tire that wears perfectly, requires minimal balancing, and performs is a Michelin - and the Mich Pilot Sport A/S specifically. I got 30k+ out of these Z-rated tires on 3 Benzes, they are quiet, they track and corner with amazing precision, and they look good (like that matters)

I have the OEM Dunflops on my CPO car, and with 7k on them, they are already making noise. I am so pissed. I knew this would happen, but not so soon. 18" tires will not be cheap, but if you're driving a Lexus LS.........why would you not buy the best tire you can?

Where did you find this thread?

Yeah everybody loves michelin tires but let me tell you something. I got the cheapest pirelli tires and after installing them wanted to see how long they will last. One and a half years later and almost 70000 mi. on them they still look good.

You have 70K total miles, or you have done 70K in 1.5 years? That's a whole lotta miles in 1.5 years. You must be doing mostly highway, which then makes tires last longer than if you did more local.

HAHA. I bought my LS in mid Dec. 07 with 56000 miles on it. Now i have 163000 miles. Changes stock dunlops at 90000 miles (they were bold as Bruce Willis head) for pirellis, till this day. Tri-State area.

Agree - I think Original Equipment Tire was H rated

I went from a h to a t rated tire on my accord and it was disasterous. The car steered terribly nervous and my shoulder got tired. Lucky the dealer took back the tires when I was the one who suggested going to a rating other than OEM. Turanza tires

I just installed a set of Toyo Versado tires on my 04 UL and love them. They are very quiet, have a long treadlife, and are great in the rain.
