Currently I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S that has a 45,000 mile warranty and have 32,000 on them (245/45/18). My impression on current tires are quite, excellent in cornering, high confidence. Grippy. Being in Houston TX, most roads here are Cement grooved. So it’s generally loud on any Lexus car. My tires are down to 2/32nd and need to replace them. Tried to get warranty and Michelin offered 4% which is crazy! Still happy with Michelin.

What I am down to is two tires both have been tested by Consumer reports and are rated very high.

1) Pirelli Cinturato P7 + :
a. Considering the P7+ because of reviews from people.
b. I want a quite ride because of cement roads
c. but I worried I will turn my LS430 into a BIG BOAT rocking left and right as I turn.
d. Worried about confidence in the tire in-case of an emergency, fast braking, or turn around a pot hole, etc.
e. Price: Discount tires $180 per tire
f. Older design but from reviews its proven 70K warranty
g. All Season Grand Touring tire


2) Michelin Sport A/S 3+ (Brand New just released that Tirerack has zero user reviews)
a. This tire just got released and its two or three generations new then what I currently have
b. Price: Discount tires $200 per tire
c. New design and has highest consumer report ratings
d. Has Sunflower oil (I think that the tires will have flowers all over it) and new silica compound 45K warranty
e. All Season Ultra Performance Tire
3) Highest Concern: Quietness on cement roads, Handling, don’t want a big boat feeling and concerned that the P7 will have that.

Recommendations and opinions needed!

Tom,
I already read this thread. The Michelin sport A/S 3+ are spanken brand new. I am leaning towards the P7+ but worried I will not be happy with them.

There are reviews on the Michelin Pilot Sport on CL. Is the Sport A/S replacing it?

the thread is mostly about 17 inch tires, with some 18 inch included. the Pirelli are getting very popular in both17 and 18 inch sizes. the 18 's are going on 460's as well so maybe look over there. very little will be known about a "brand new" tire anywhere. the Pirelli's are made in Mexico. that is all I know

Just a quick update:
Currently have Michelin Sport A/S plus from 2012. 31000 miles on them but has 45000 mile warranty
So called Michelin today they said go to retailer. Went to Discount Tire and measured tires 2/32, 0/32, 3/32, 1/32.
Michelin offered 53% off any Michelin tire I wanted. I tried to get the P7+ but they will not do that.
So I had two choices:
1) Primer A/S 112 per tire after 53% off
2) Sport A/S 3 plus $94 per tire after 53% off

I went with Primer A/S arriving tomorrow to install. Again, I tried getting the P7 plus but discount said Michelin will only do wear warranty with another Michelin product. So I figured the Primer A/S is more suited for my vehicle.

I paid very close attention to my current ride quality on the same route: road noise, vibration, hum, tire sound, steering feel, turning and rocking, feel on diffrent roads cement grooved, asphalt, bumps, etc....

Will give my detailed impression of the Primer A/S once I get them. Hopefully they will not make my car become a boat

I could have gotten the P7+ for $170 per tire or primer for $112 per tire. Took cheaper route.

Curious to get the experts feedback on this message board. My wife tells me to sell my car since I have 143k but I love my 2005 LS 430. Will keep it until it stops working

You say you fear you will not like the P7+ after driving the Pilot a/s. I have driven MXV4 Serenity, Comfortred all where good Grand Touring tires. All comfortable compliant predictable cruising tires. The P7+ is number one in this class.

I have the Pilot Sport A/S not A/S plus 245/45/18 and I prefer the steering response handling way they hold the road in winds to the Grand touring group. Not gonna get 70k out of em though thats for sure. Pilot A/S3 have good reviews also. Buy the Pirellis if ya dont like em ya have 30 days and get their Ultra High Performance A/S tire prolly a comparable tire to the Pilot A/S 3 plus. OOOr buy the premiers and trade up to the Pilot's

The \Pirelli P Zero Plus is a 50 k rated tire y speed rating. Tested on TR against the new DWS 06, Pilot A/s and another tire I forget. Pirelli was just behind the Pilot. Biggest nock was handling in snow, might be a problem in Houston, lol. Get P7 ya hate em get the P Zero's within 30 days

The last 15 years, I have been buying my tires from Costco.
Two big negatives with Costco --
1) no factory warranty. I took my tires to Costco and they would not warranty them for wear. Called Michelin and they said go to a retailer. Discount tire called Michelin and they offer 53% off the tires.
2) long waits at Costco 1.5 - 2 hours is average.

Current: Michelin Sport A/S + (31,000 miles on them) measured 2/32"

53% off any Michelin. Told them I wanted the P7+ but Discount Tire said only Michelin. So decided to go with Primer A/S
