Default Wiper Blades - Tried POS Bosch Evolution - FAIL

Hello,

My drivers side wiper blade is shot. The rubber has partially delaminated. I went to Canadian Tire and looked up what fits my car by putting in all the information to their stupid computer.

I bought a Bosch Evolution wiper blade (24") thinking that zee Germans may know a thing or two. Silly me, the damn thing interferes with the arm, so I'm going to have to take it back. What a waste of time.

Other than OEM does anyone any good brands that actually fit our cars? The dealer prices are outrageous and the low Canadian dollar will not help things much.

I've heard the PIAA Silicone Wipers are good:

PIAA 94060 Silicone Wiper Blade Refill, 24" (Pack of 1), Winches - Amazon Canada PIAA 94060 Silicone Wiper Blade Refill, 24" (Pack of 1), Winches - Amazon Canada

But am hesitatant to try if I don't know for sure if they will work.

Any suggestions?

Didn't realize you could just get the rubber part of the blade. I checked it on Amazon.ca. Man we get shafted in Canada.

Lexus OEM Blade Assembly Refill - 85214-50061 - Right - $6.74 USD MyLParts - $14.20 CAD Amazon.ca

Lexus OEM Blade Assembly Refill - 85214-0E020 - Left - $7.95 USD MyLParts - $18.74 CAD Amazon.ca

At this price I'll pop round to the dealer and see what their price it. May save me a day or two.

Thanks for the input.

The rubber refills are so cheap I just can't imagine anyone trying to save a few coins by not buying Lexus OEM from the dealer.

I got the RainX blades, they suck too. Had to grind off a part off the mounting clip to get them to fit. Not again.

I rarely buy "Bosch" in anything except once I had a Bosch front loading washer that was decent.

This topic has been rehashed several times, conclusion is always the same - aftermarket blades are terrible, OEM works best and is also the cheapest. Our most recent discussion on this topic is at https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...of-choice.html

When I bought from the dealer in 2012 (for ~$7CAD each), part numbers were 85214-50100 for left, 85214-50061 for right. Not sure why 85214-0E020 is an alternate left-side part number.

ive been using the michelin stealth hybrid wipers for a few changes now, they are the closest thing ive found to the oe wiper inserts, only reason i switched was my oe wiper broke so i just replaced both of them, went through everything, bosch, rainx, different michelins, and the hybrid stealth is the only one that will actually adhere to the countour of the windshield. once knock on them though, is they tend to have a short life, but i use mine alot and i drive alot so.... not really sure.

I just replaced the wiper OEM inserts on my car. The last inserts lasted 36k miles in 2.5 years which is darn good compared to my other cars which I was replacing every year.

If you still have the OEM blades, I recommend just replacing the rubber; far cheaper than and less complicated than replacing entire blade.

This is what I did finally. Actually they were cheaper at the Lexus dealer than on Amazon. Very surprising! The inserts were $9.99 each, so $20 total and the dealer even installed them for me. Blades wipe smoothly and evenly with no noise.
