Default Trunk release and gas cap release buttons

Are the trunk release and gas cap release buttons supposed to be illuminated at night? If so, how is the bulb replaced and what bulb/bulbs are needed? I just noticed last night they were not on and am not sure if they ever were. Thanks all.

Yes, there is. It's a small size wedge filament bulb.

I changed mine out with white LED's.

Thanks. How is the factory bulb replaced? Does that piece of plastic trim surrounding the switches need to be popped out somehow?

Yes. Our friend RKW posted a diagram somewhere, not too long ago. Do a search in the same key terms you used.

I forgot how I took mine apart. But I do remember needing to take off the panels around it. I remember taking off the park-release and also the coin tray, to be able to get all the way down there.

The 2004 does not have that pull out box to open the trunk. Mine does not light up.

My 2004 has lights. Check out the post below for step-by-step bulb replacement:

No kidding - doubt if I would go through all that to replace mine when it goes. Luckily, I still have light there, for now!

Thanks for the great write up. I guess I will be living with out the light there. I too will be using my touch to find the switches.
