That is a good deal.
It does help cross checking information with the Mylexusdrivers website and a VIN check.
anybody can list their car for unrealistically high price, and many fools do, based on what KBB says. Keep in mind KBB is only accurate to +/- 20%. Just call the owner and ask how long they've had their car at that price and that will tell you volumes about what the real market price is.
any car, even an LS, with more than 100k miles is going to be tough to sell. 01-03 with 100k+ are less than 9k even in really good shape.
i'm looking at an '00 LS400 with minor exterior scratches, 98k, excellent mechanicals, black, asking 6500 and it has sat for 1 month plus. Dealers are offering 3k for it, which means it probably has a true sell price of maybe 5k.
I know for the LS, after looking for a month, flys off of dealer lots, as well as private owners, even with 100k+ miles as long as it was properly maintained.
The LS430s with low prices are usually trashed, have previous accident(s), or have been poorly maintained/ neglected cars regardless of mileage. Usually when a savvy buyer takes a good look at one of these supposed bargains a careful inspection will reveal why it is priced where it is. There are tons of LS430s on used car lots listed as super clean - and they are usually greasy dogs that have come in through the auctions.
+1 I agree 100% It's not an easy task to find an original clean well maintained LS430 period. The best ones are usually gobbled up quickly.
I'll place money that the "clean" in that listing would not hold up to the standard of such a definition on this forum. I grant your assertion of a normally (or worse) price depreciation curve if that car is what it says. My experience has cars actually meeting said condition at those miles asking to two times that price. Hence my OP.

What I found looking for cars on Craigslist in the "For sale by owner" was that there were a lot of independent car dealers putting their cars in this section.
For grins my wife and I went to look at a LS430 at indpt car lot and not only would the car not start (battery dead) and there was dry rot around some of the rubber molding but the hood struts were broke. The guy wanted almost $10,000 for a 2001 with 95,000. We walked away. http://www.ajsnicecars.com/web/used/...Texas/1792977/
The other LS430 was at a Ford Dealer that was wanting a premium price. After looking through the window and seeing the bad condition of the leather and peeling the rubber molding around the front window we walked away again. http://www.northcentralford.com/exot...140dde296f.htm
A low price is almost a guarantee the Lexus is in bad condition.
