Stock LS wheels are 45 offset. Will 40 offset on 17" wheels fit without any modifications and clear the calipers?

 

It's not just about offset, it also depends on the wheel width and design, assuming it's the same width 5mm will make no difference, and whether it's gonna clear the calipers it depends on the design of the wheel, they can have different disk height, like high disk, low disk etc. Some wheels specifically state that they are BBK (big brake kit) friendly.
