Hawaii navigation upgrade on 2006 LS430
The local dealership said it could not be done. How can I get Hawaii map information on my 2006 LS 430. I think it is a gen 3 or 4. I do get GPS coordinates Lat/Long now but no map.
Were they in the previous versions? I wonder why the big change to wipe them off... I'm sure there's not as many people there, but they would still need coverage.
No, there was no change to remove coverage. For instance, in prior versions of the DVD for the Gen 2/3, Canada wasn't on the DVD disc. The Gen 2/3 doesn't have enough CPU to handle all of the data (POI, etc.) for the entire U.S. on a current disc so you have to use either an "eastern" or "western" U.S. DVD map.
Here's the official map info: http://www.lexusnavigation.com/faq/
Hawaii is covered beginning on Gen 5 Nav systems.

No way to get Hawaii on the stock nav system. There is a reason they never offered stock nav on LS430's originally sold in Hawaii. Just get an aftermarket HU with nav built in and forget about the stock nav system.
Since I cannot get map data on the Gen 4 LS 430 in Hawaii. Is there a way to have the default screen be the Audio page verses the current map screen only showing rotating compass with lat/long changing.
I believe you can set the adjustments so that it doesn't automatically return to the map screen. Or simply turn off the Display and only use it for Audio and Climate. Don't ever touch the Map button in upper right corner.
