I have read the threads on door lock actuator and cable failures. Is there a step by step troubleshooting guide on this issue?
My problem on my 2001 is that the remote built into the key base will fail to lock or unlock intermittently and works most of the time. The manual key in the keyhole always works ( I have only tried on driver side) and the switch always works from inside. This makes me think that the motors are fine, otherwise the switch from inside wouldn't work. I am also thinking that it's not the remote because when it does not lock (and does not beep), i can "unlock" it and it will double beep. Is it a stretched cable, or some sort of ECU issue? How do I tell which door is the problem?
It's the actuator motor. You can always manually operate the lock. When the motor is failing it works intermittently. Just be glad it's the easiest and cheapest part to replace.

Thanks. Is there a way to tell which door is failing? Or should I replace all 4?
Nobody really replaces all 4. The way you tell which one is failing is by seeing which door lock is not responding. It's usually the door used the most. My drivers door was replaced twice. Once under warranty by the previous owner and once by me. Which door is intermittent?
