Radiator replacement

Then it should be the 180. If it opens at 170 then it will be deficalt to reach 195 operating temp as the coolant will cercolat Theroux the system. I guess.

Looking on RockAuto it shows two. A 180 and a 170 degree. It does say 170 is OE type. It probably matters little as the car pretty much operates between 190 - 200 degrees. Personally, I would get the oem part.

"OE type" means not OEM. I'd get the T-stat from a Lexus dealer, but that's just me. It's not an expensive part.

Most probably i will get itfrom the dealer for the Gulf Spec one. I thing the 170 is not slandered. If itopens at 170 the temp will not get to 190 +. Unless you are stuck in traffic.
Doing so will increase thewear and tear on the engine, increase fuel consumption, and on a vehicle likemine (137k Miles) probably get little extra power not worth it? It’s not a sportcar after all.
As the engine runs coolerthe engine internals will expand less making titer seal, bit extra power forincreased fraction that leads to more wear and tear and increased fuelconsumption. That is the theory.

Going back and looking at the selection on RockAuto I believe you are correct. The OEM temp is 180 not 170. Although it does list various 170 degree units as being compatible. Odd. As mentioned, when I do mine I'm just going to get it the OEM part from the dealer.

45 C is relatively cool?!! You definitely want the 1" towing radiator

100% interchangeable, I just did mine, Denso for sure.

Default Bringing it back FYI

I bought the non towing 5/8" Denso from Rock Auto for my 01 with about 160kish at the time around February 2015. The old oem radiator was split along the top. Just did the 2nd t/b and wp kit last week at 179k and replaced with an oem toyota tstat. The radiator has held up fine over the past year. I ordered the Stant Tstat from Rock Auto 2/15, but never used it. It didn't have that jiggle valve. Didn't want to use it. Point is the 5/8" is fine and was easy to install.

Did your reuse the factory foam sealing strips? Or use something else? Or nothing? I'm about to replace mine and I don't think the foam is necessary.
