Congrats on the purchase.

Have you tried different keys?
I'm assuming the remote locks/unlocks the car?

You might have a faulty locking/unlocking sensor in the back. That sensors needs to feel you're close to it so that it can process opening the trunk. It's located in the right behind the rear bumper cover.

Thank you for your reply

I tried other buttons it does lock and unlock the doors and if you keep holding the unlock it will open all the windows and the sun roof too

and for the trunk actuator it works fine also i can find a small micro switch behind the bumper it is working
i think it is fuse issue but i dont know where and which one is it

Default Hold for 2 seconds

Not sure if you know, but I thought I had the same problem when I bought my first Lexus (ES 300). Try holding down the trunk button on the remote for 2 seconds.

Is the valet trunk lock on? Make sure it is off. If not, I would then look at the key itself.

Put the key in, turn, and make sure it is not engaged. Pushed in is on. You want it off.

You can test your Key FOB at most AutoZone Stores...

It's not a simple press the button on the key and the trunk will open like the doors, you have to hold the trunk button down for a few seconds....

Had the same issue when I got my LS, took me a few days to figure it out..

Your key does not look at all like a genuine 2001 LS key. That is likely your problem. Note the "Lock" and "Panic" button on the genuine LS key is the same button. The trunk release button is separate. Start with the correct key. These '01 - '03 keys are DIY self-programmable too (as long as there are remaining key "open slots" available on the onboard computer). See https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ansponder.html
