Hope this helps someone with an outside mirror that was pushed beyond the stops toward the front.
I found that I could force the mirror to the opposite stop and have someone switch on the ignition while forcibly holding the mirror until the motor stops. Then release the mirror and switch the ignition on, the mirror will move to the correct position and stop. Everything is good.
