Need Bluetooth w/Hands Free calling Android Integration For 2003 LS430
I have a 2003 LS430 and have been looking for a way to use my Android phone with my factory Navigation unit to stream music and to answer and make phone calls. I DO NOT have the system that has Bluetooth. What I am lookin for is a system that will allow me to keep factory equipment and use of steering wheel controls. GROM says that the kits they have are not compatible with the LS models for years 01-03 that were sold in the US. VaisTech says that they do not currently have a kit that allows you to do both ( make and recieve calls through Bluetooth and stream music) they only have one that will allow you to stream your mustic.
Does anyone have a kit that does what I am lookin g for? If so can you post a link or give me some info with pics and cost. If not can anyone point me in the right direction.
I have heard of a FM modulated kit that does the streaming and phone calls. Anyone know of this . Any help will be appreciated.

Sallensr, I'm in the same boat. I've got a nice 03 Ultra, but I really wish I had an 04. Only for the BT option. My 03 came with a phone cradle in the arm rest and steering wheel controls that are now useless. I would really like to find a way to integrate an Iphone with my existing ML system.
I've had this Bluetooth cassette adapter since March, and I have no complaints; best $30 mod I've done on this car.

I say temp fix because every time i get in the car I hear a beep and then on the screen a message saying unable to connect with Bluetooth. I've gone through the phone screen and I haven't been able to add anything yet. They only thing I found in another area was a message to say happy birthday to some girl Sarah back in 2007. I've read my manual and didn't come across bluetooth material but it was 1am at the time. Found some hack stuff but is there a straight forward way for me to utilize my actual bluetooth?
Been delaying on asking because I recognize this is basic but whatever I need help so im asking. I have a 2006 my phone is a Samsung s5 and so far this cassette works. The Pandora streaming is ok it works but quality is comprised through the use of the cassette.
I installed a Parrot bluetooth kit in my LS430 about 3 months after I got it:

If I had to do it again I would probably just use an external speaker as wiring into the existing was a real pain in the ***.
They don't make the 3200LS kit anymore but the successor MKi kits do bluetooth streaming as well as telephony

The only problem is that there's no easy way to wire the streaming piece into the LS sound system as it's a complicated beast with the AVC-LAN system.
I would recommend the Vaistech kits for either USB or bluetooth streaming;

I have one in each Lexus for the iPod and they work well (including the steering wheel controls). Most phones will tolerate having one paired for media and one paired for telephony.

The GROM kit is a solution as well. Just installed it in my 2003 LS430 w/ nav.

It will let you answer/reject/end calls with steering wheel controls and change audio tracks with steering wheel controls. It also comes with a microphone with a long wire you can place almost anywhere you can route wiring. I routed mine to the center console area next to the driver behind the shifter/in front of the cupholders and tested it by calling my girlfriend, and it works perfect. However, to place calls, you still have to use the phone itself, or a smart watch or 'ok google' voice commands, depending on which route you want to go.
3.3 Using your phone in the hands-free mode
Once the Bluetooth is paired with the phone and the stereo is in GROM-USB /IPD3 mode (USB/iPod/AUX)
you can start using your phone hands free. Once you receive the phone call the stereo will mute (only in Grom
mode) and you will hear the incoming call. Once you receive the call you are able to:
1. Answer Call – Press next track or track up.
2. Reject Call – Press previous track or track down.
3. End Call -- Press previous track or track down.
4. Call Waiting (answer a second call) -- Press next track or track up.
5. Voice dialing- Press SCAN twice within 3 seconds while in GROM mode. You can only initiate voice
dialing when there is no music streaming over Bluetooth. Do not press SCAN within first 5 seconds of
entering GROM mode.
To make a phone call:
1. Dial the phone number on your phone.
2. Once the phone is dialing the grom music mutes and you start hearing the dialing. Once the phone is
answered you will start using it hands-free.

Thanks for chiming in here... I'll read up more on the last two posts. These came up on previous searches but honestly I didn't read through only because I was trying to connect to what appears to be bluetooth already there.
Like other searches here I guess I should invest more time reading all the responses because I will prob find my reason why I can't connect as well.
So far the cassette is still 100% on calls but I love music. If anyone is considering the ion bluetooth cassette for audio just pass and use the other options available that other members shared.

The easiest and cheapest way for me was to use a decent cassette adapter and the Kinivo BTC450 bluetooth dongle. The Kinivo has excellent reviews (I'm an Amazon *****) and I also used it in my Vette previously. You can get both for about 40$ and the music streaming and call quality is excellent once you figure out where to set your phone bluetooth/media volume (sweet spot ~about 75%) .
You can run the wires under the shifter and cd player door or on the side of the seat/tranny tunnel to the arm rest for power if you dnnt want to take the dash apart to use the more expensive GROM type products.
I used this setup successfully with Galaxy S4 and now Note 4 streaming via Pandora and Amazon Music
