Right on the UL sport mode, that button only affects the suspension. And not the transmission, or otherwise we would've seen the sport button in all LS430 trims, but it's only available when the car has air struts, therefore only on UL's.
I have 2 open cutouts, most of the time I click in to "S" mode because the car holds on to the gear a bit more than D. Kind of like an n between of what the POWER button does.
When I leave my gear in the S position my car holds on to which ever gear I'm in much more and by that I avoid drone coming from my cutouts.
Because the car drones at around 2000 RPM, that is the area of where you'll usually be changing gears through out your drive.
When I keep the car in S mode, the revs go higher than 2 then they change and kick into the next gear therefore --- I avoid the drone I get because the car is still holding on to the shift and didn't engage in the one after yet passing the 2000 mark quickly without me having to feel it.
BTW, I don't know what the letter S on the gear changer stands for?
Sad?
Skinny?
Smart? hmm that\'s a good one for you
Oh, I know I know, it stands for SASSY!
You kick in to SASSY mode when you have the gear in that position.
This goes out to everyone, always try to learn and appreciate something for a change. Not everything you think you know is correct, not everything I know is correct. Try and do both for a change.
