Default maintenance light

So I have been changing oil with castrol syntec with original toyota oil filter. I have changed the schedule for 10k on my nav system but just noticed the red maintenance light turned on at about 5500 miles. Any method to change the setting other than the nav system so it doesn't trigger the light until 10k? Thanks and happy holidays.

The distance setting on the Nav system for oil change does not control the "Maintenance" light on the dash. They are separate and independent. The on-dash oil Maintenance light is set at factory. Check your Owner's Manual.

Reset Maintenance Required Light

1. With your car OFF, place your key in the ignition and turn to ""On"". Do not start the car.

2. Find the odometer button and press until it reads the total odometer setting, (not the Trip A or Trip B setting).

3. Turn the key to OFF.

4. Place your finger back on the odometer button, press and hold. At the same time, turn the key back to ""On"".

5. Hold the odometer button in until the MAINT REQ light goes out...should take about 8-10 seconds.

I think the OP wants to have the on-dash Maintenance light set to a 10,000 mile interval for oil changes (which can't be done). He'll have to set the Nav screen oil change reminder to 10,000 and rely only on it, then simply reset the on-dash maintenance light (per the instructions) every time it turns "on".

Thanks for your replies. I went with just resetting and keeping track on ODO 2 and nav.
