The MAINT REQD light is a reminder to change the oil. It starts blinking at you after 5000 miles, and it stays on after 7500 miles.
To reset the mileage (and turn off the light), press and hold the Odometer toggle / Trip Reset button while turning on the key. The odometer will initally show "------". Keep holding it (about 5 seconds) until the odometer shows "000000".
