So I got a good deal on an ebay key for my 01 LS430. The key seems appropriate since the blade is requisitely long and the fob bears the same FCC id as the master key that came with the car.

I can get the car into the program mode (turn the key on and off 5 times and open/close the driver's door 6 times) where the anti-theft indicator light turns solid red, but when I put in my ebay key in the ignition to be programmed, the red anti-theft indicator light pulses red with two short blinks and one long blink. And the light seems to continue the pulsing indefinitely. I haven't managed to program my key and was wondering if anyone had any tips.

I'm thinking I should bite the bullet and get the Sewell key, though does anyone have any tips before I buy another key?
