I'm sure there are a ton of post about noises and bushings but I will make my own anyway...

I was getting some popping and creaking sounds from the front end during suspension load stopping and slow driving. For the last few thousand miles I was beginning to hear it. Two of bushes later the popping is gone and she is riding more smooth and planted. Not a drastic difference but noticeable for me as I tend to replace failing parts immediately. Little fanatical sometimes but I have not broken down since starting this preventive maintenance strategy 12 years ago.

Anyway, from my minor research they are the most common as are the castor arm bushings. Those were already done before I purchased the car. The other bushing on the LCA is not a common failure nor are the upper control arms. I think the UCA's tend to last till 200K or more. I'm happy with the feel and it's worth doing if you notice any of the same symptoms. Nothing like a few new bushes after 10 years ad 115k. It really is satisfying. Like a tune up on your suspension.

im def gonna need to do that to my car also, did the bushings give you a struggle when pushing it out the arm?

 

I did not try to do it myself. It's listed at 1.5 hours per side and I believe you need to press them in and out. My DIYs are down to sourcing the parts myself these days...

 

I just replace LCA Bushings, this week end, it takes me about 20 minutes to remove old ones, then I pay 30 $ b to press the new in, and about 30 minutes to install them back , now car feels really good, no more vibration on freeway.
Money spent
150$ for new bushings
30$ for press( at local repair shop)
total 180$
2 hours of time.
Done deal.

So you only pressed in the rear bushings on each LCA? Isnt there a front bushing too?

 

The front bushing is not sold separately nor does it tend to go bad like the rear one. You have to buy the whole arm is the other is bad.

 

Well, I spoke too soon for one of the symptoms. I still have a little pop sound only under specific conditions right when the car is coming to a complete stop and turning. Pretty positive they are the tie rod ends. Probably will replace those soon too. But the LCA bushing replacement has been great.

Just wanted to give an update. The popping I was getting came back because the dealer did not torque down everything properly when doing the LCA bushings. Went back for them to check because it seemed like it was getting worse. They went back and re-torqued it and now everything is great.

 

Nice I might have to replace my LCA bushings.. when coming to a slow stop it creaks a little bit and also when I fully air up and down real quick sometimes it would creak as well. Really sure its the LCA bushings so I'm going to be changing them out real soon.

 

oh lord scratch needs this done and the mirrors and other loose ends,

better get a house with garage soon I am tired of paying the stealers at the dealer.

 

so what should i expect the lexus dealer to charge me for this job ? My car has 123k miles on it now and I hear a clicking sound sometimes, usually going slow and sometimes at highway speed too. It's not a very loud sound but it's there. I have a feeling this might be whats wrong.

 

The parts were $154 with tax. I ordered them online. I kind of made a friend at my local dealer and I can negotiate labor rates with them to be in line with other shops. $260 is what I paid in labor.

 

Just curious about the large rear lower control arm bushings.

I have an IS F and removed the stock bushings and replaced them with a much stiffer material to save tire wear. I have a nearly new set and wonder if they would fit my LS 430.

The IS F bushing looks the same and is 3.025 inches OD. What is the OD of the LS 430 bushing?

I'll bet the F bushings are better material or at least stiffer.

Books don't really say, but it would be nice if they interchange.
