Default Mark Levinson Factory Time Alignment?

Came across this statement when reading about the '04 - '06 vintage of the 430:

"The upgraded Mark Levinson stereo, also part of that refresh year, provided optimized sound for different seating positions..."

Can someone explain what this statement means? Factory time alignment? And if so, was it really only available for the 04 - 06 ML stereo? Or is does this apply to 01 - 03 ML stereos as well?

Under audio settings using the nav screen. There is a Sound button with highlighted seat positions. Driver. Driver and Passenger, Rear seat only or entire car. Optimizes according to seat locations. Its interesting.

So, how does one get this in their 01 - 03? I'm wondering what updated part enables this functionality and if that can be added to the 01 - 03.

How does the driver position sound? I'm considering adding in a JBL MS-8 which does (among other things) time alignment. I don't need something that robust to be impressed though. Would you say the audio seems pretty well balanced in your right and left ears when set to the driver position?

All may be moot if this can't be added in an 01 - 03 with Nav/ML.

Not possible. This particular function works only if you have 04+ ML amp and 04+ nav screen unit and 04+ radio headunit. Idk if it's possible to retrofit, most likely no, without having to get and replace many harnesses.

It's not that cool of a function anyway. As mentioned, it just throws balance settings around.
