2003 Lexus LS430 - Moonroof opens by itself while driving
See above.
Just started doing this today while me and my family was driving on the highway. It opens and then the switch wont respond to closing. Then after a bit the switch responds and I can close it.
Did it twice today. Very annoying as it snowing here.
Any clues what this might be? Corroded switch? Can I spray contact cleaner through it without have to disassemble it?
Can I disable the moonroof by pulling a fuse?
Thanks.

You can, but I bet the answer is far simpler: try replacing the switch. I think there's a very good chance that's all that is wrong. The motor isn't going to simply turn on and off for no reason. More than likely a little crud in the switch which is preventing it from operating correctly.
Ran into this issue today. I haven't driven the car for a couple of weeks. During the drive today, I heard noise from the sunroof, pull the shade and saw it was opened about an inch. So I closed it. After ~30 sec, the roof opened all the way by itself. I closed it. Don't know what happened. Reviewed this thread but no one seems to able to identify the root cause. I wonder if it is the switch.

What I found was the switch goes to a small circuit board through a ribbon cable. I pulled the ribbon cable out and it had some corrosion on it. I wiped it off and plugged back in and working fine. Sorry I didn’t take any pictures. It is all under the cover where the switch is located. Also before I fixed it I got the sunroof to close then pulled fuse so it would not open again. Fuse is in trunk. Hope this helps!!

It happened again (since my last post here). Here is what happened this time
Rolled down my driver side window and the moonroof opened at the same time. Both open/close, tilt buttons were not working.
After driving it home and turn off and restart the car, I was able to close the roof again using the button.
I probably will open up the switch to see if there is anything going on there.
