Default New LS

I just purchased my first LS 2 days ago. I joined this forum because of the wealth of information about these cars. Mine is a 2005 Mercury Metallic / Black interior, it has the ML sound system and Nav. I have been combing this site for information and I have not been disappointed. The miles are high at 173xxx. This is still an awesome car, I am still figuring out all the features. The ride and overall performance is unmatched. This will not be the last LS that I will own. I do have a question though the drivers side adjustment for the shoulder belt does not work. Where should I look to try and fix it? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Congratulations and welcome. Check out the FAQ thread and post some pics of the car.

Check switch first. Look for corrosion. Check for 12v with a multimeter.

I just took a road trip and I noticed that the cigarette lighter/ power port (I do not smoke) in the console does not work either. It would not charge my phone.

The cigarette lighter is not powered on unless the ignition switch is ON (probably in ACC also).
If ignition is ON, it may be that there is a fuse like the early LS400s have right at the stud that connects to the 12V supply wire. Check the LS400 fora for that - there is an excellent writeup with pictures

re the cig lighter/power port...check the fuse for this circuit. Very common that this fuse gets blown, particularly with high current draw appliances such as a newish cell phone. Fuse box for this circuit is located passenger side front, down by your feet on right hand side..easy to get to. The owners manual will show clearly which one it is.

I think the shoulder belt adjuster is on the side of the driver's seat.
