You have water ingress. This is probably why the navigation CD player went bad. You should look for the point of water entry and address this.

Check the other side of the trunk as well.

Yes, and thx for the reply - I did see this on other posts looking at where the amplifier is and stumbled on LS430 posts with the water damage in this location.
I will have to find the source and am thinking the first place to look is behind the trunk panels near the rear tail light -
Plus there was so much garbage in the hinge rain gutter area I would not be surprised that water got in there and pushed over the trunk gasket area.
I had to take small wire brushes and clean out the hinge/gutter area.
I spent about 2 hours this morning just cleaning this hinge/gutter area.
Surprisigly there is no rust in the this area, just a lot of dead leaves that turned into crummy muck cleaning it out - the area was full of debris all the way to the beginning of the window area.
