The "S" next to "D" on the transmission
I saw the "S", wondered what it was, looked in the book and didn't exactly get what they were talking about...so I tried it out. You move the lever to "S" and it goes down one gear. Then you just jog the lever down or up for what ever you want. You don't have to actually move the lever. Anyway, all you car experts know all about this, I am sure, but I have to say that the whole operation is "smooth as silk" and convenient for slowing the vehicle down on an incline. Don't worry, I won't be dropping it into lo at 100 mph. Another great LS430 feature that my 400 didn't have. Doesn't take away from the fact that the 400 will always be my first love.

It caps the max gear your car will go into. It doesn't guarantee that it will stay at that gear though. Car will automatically downshift based on it's leaning but won;t exceed the max gear set on S.
