Hi everyone, I posted a thread a few weeks ago about having this weird squeak or creak coming from the passenger side up towards the windshield on my 2006 LS430. The noise is bad when cold inside the cabin of the car. Finally, I think I have isolated it to the long vent that runs across the dashboard toward the windshield. I guess also known as the windshield defroster vent. When the car does make the noise, I place my hand and push down or apply slight pulling pressure towards me on the vent on the passenger side and it stops.
So here is my question....Does anybody know how that vent is removed? I would like to remove the vent and line the sides of it with maybe some felt tape? I am not sure if it is just secured in by clips and can be preyed up or? Just don't want to do any damage to the car.
just to clarify are we talking about the same vent? What is the long vent that goes across the whole top of the dashboard by the windshield? It has a black circle which i think may be a headlight sensor sticking up in the center? if this is the vent, taking the whole dash out would be crazy. Maybe i could just shove some felt in between without removing it?
