New LS owner here
Hey guys,
I'm joining the LS430 crowd, and the Lexus crowd for that matter so thought to post a "hello world" thread just to introduce myself to the company. Used to own a E38 7 series, and now bought my father's LS430 since he wasn't using it anymore.
The car is an '01 UL, with everything on it. I think in Greece it was sold as the "President" edition, and it being a euro spec model it does have the smart key that the NA version got with the facelift (correct me if I'm wrong - this is all new to me).
Blue with a light beige interior and all the assorted equipment, you've seen a lot those probably. Anyway, a couple of pics of my bone stock LS that's been missing some love (my father has the best intentions but always washed it with dish detergent and a rough brush he also used to sweep the yard...). As I now live in Zurich, it's currently enjoying nice roadtrips up in the Alps, but since I always go around a lot, hopefully it's gonna see a lot of Europe over the next few months...

work that I have scheduled:
- winter tyres in a month or so, in preparation of the Swiss winter
- a Handirack or something similar as there is no ski-bag in the car (damn coolbox)
- a navigation disc from the dealership for Western EU
- sometime by Christmas pads and maybe discs as there is some vibration on my break pedal. I used Akebonos on my E38 and was stoked with the results the lack of noise and dust. If I can find a local supplier I'll go with them again.
- track that squeak in the front left side. I think the left bushing in the sway bar is causing it, but the car is flawless underneath and there shouldn't be any sounds coming off...
- a good detailing come next spring - paintjob needs a lot of love...

I suggest go to a small car dealer if you have no neighbors or friends in the business. Tell the dealer you will throw em 20 bucks for the recent action at the auction. that is what the car is worth and how much the dealer thinks its worth and how much you should base your offers on. You can even show em the printout when you are fed up and ready to walk for good.
I just bought an 04 ML sport with 64k. The dealer showed me the auction prices. I walked and at the door to leave and he was furiouse we made a deal. I got a fair deal, not a great deal not a crap deal fair. It was a TX car I didn't have to drive for, he still is trying to sell mine 3-4 months later(glad I did not have to) and these are all premiums I expected to pay more for.
When I bought my used Touareg 012 I just asked my neighbor who is in the bus he gave me the latest auction action. The actual value is not nada this or edmunds that it is the auction then plus or minus for condition and emotion.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. In the beginning I was very sceptical coming from a sportier luxo-barge. The seating position was not "right" the steering was a little numb, but in speed limit crazy Switzerland, sporting credentials don't really matter. And coming to know the car in a couple of good runs in the Alps it's not that bad after all - I just need my time in it.
It's growing on me, and I'm starting to appreciate its merits. Hopefully it's going to be a happy co-existence over the next couple of years
