Default Transmission Torque converter problem

After getting a partial fluid change in my 2004 LS 430 with 102K miles I'm finding that the torque convert isn't re-engaging when I come to a stop.. at least not immediately. After a second it engages just fine. No other slipping. No warning lights.

Any ideas?

Hi,

What fluid was used?
Who did the work?
How was the level checked?
How much fluid was changed?
Why was it changed ? Any previous symptoms?
At what speed is this issue happening?
Any fault codes read by techstream?

What fluid was used? 01-03 and 04-06 use different transmission fluid, which shops would not know if they didnt do their research. 04-06 use WS (World Standard) transmission fluid, and is a sealed tranny case. I was going to change out my fluid about a year ago, but after doing research on here and asking, I decided to leave it alone.

I only thought it was my transmission because of the lag. turns out, it can be your fuel system that is dirty that can cause these issues. I maintain it pretty well and use only supreme, but sometimes your fuel system needs a deep cleaning that no techron will clean.

Did my transmission service at 78k, still fine at 86k

You'd be utter daft not to want to service your transmission.

It goes through heat cycles, fluid gets worn and breaks down.

Service it! If it knackers after the service then it dying was due anyway.

Just as an update. Took the car to lexus and it ended up being that the original service location never bled the system. After bleeding it was 2.5 qts low. They topped it off right and all is well. Obviously won't be taking any cars back there!

If the original service location is non Lexus/Toyota glad I go the dealer way. 140k on this thread cannot remember a real severe tranny problem, nor an engine problem either where major work $ was done. I even get my tires at dealers as I have little time to screw around. Lucky to have a good dealer. I have had 2 tranny services to 192k prolly do another if I keep it to the next next belt.

It is hard as you cannot check the color of the fluid easily on 04
