Default Road Machine

I'm starting the final 600 miles of a 2,800 mile trip thru Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. This LS 430 rocks! What a fine road car. I took advantage of the 80 mph speed limit. This car is the best value in a highway cruiser I have ever had.

Agree - A nice smooth ride, good size safe vehicle, great speed and power, lots of nice touches inside to keep the driver and passengers relaxed, and decent mpg to boot. Have a safe trip.

I haven't taken mine on a trip that long, but it does make for a nice highway cruiser. Get around 24 - 26 MPG.

Just made that Texas to LA run myself. It seems there can be better deals in Dallas than LA on an LS430. I'll leave the understanding of that price difference to geniuses brighter than I am on that.
I went from Dallas to Midland the first day (motels are really pricey in Midland but it's a nice 5 hour start). The next day to Tucson and the final day in from Tucson. The car rode like a dream. Lots of books on tape and XM did it. No sleeping here. I averaged high 20's in the mpg with 80 and then 75 for a speed. Man a lot of people get tickets when they cross from El Paso into New Mexico and think they still can do 80+ mph.
Taking the 10 seems faster than taking the 40 but the drive is a bit less interesting. Good luck on the new ride.

Just completed 900 mile round trip to SoCal (with 2005 LS430) in such comfort.

Love the way it drives with descent mileage of 27.3 way to (with 91 octane) and 26.2 way back (with 87), highways MPGs.
That is as good as my 1997 ES300 with 250k miles on.

How much advantage can you take of an 80mph limit ?!?!?!

What on earth are your usual highway speed limits over there?

I periodically make drives from MI to Chicago, IL (about 300 mi ea way) to go from home to school. The LS430 does this trip beautifully, the car is very soothing to drive even with those horrid radio station choices in western MI lol. I never feel tired getting after the 4 hr drive (I usually don't make any pit stops). Lexus really worked their magic with this one!
