Default UV protected glass ls430

Can anyone tell me if the door glass and rear glass in a 01 ls430 offers any uv protection? When I hold my arm up to the window on a sunny day I feel no heat so I think it may be. I ask because if NOT I will get a high quality light tint applied to preserve the interior from the effects of the relentless Texas summer sun, but I really preffer the factory non-tinted look. Please advise. Thanks, Stephen

Is yours a UL? I know the UL's have double pane insulated windows that help with heat. It does not offer UV protection AFAIK. I would still do a light tint with high UV rejection.

The factory glass is UV resistant yes.

You can always get a clear tint if you want more heat rejection.

UVB resistant, some UVA will still pass through.

The area that takes a pounding is the top of the back seats. Leather starts to feel like jerky. Toss a color matched towel or something up there also.

This was really the case for my FL car... once it's jerky, there is no way to get it back to supple (despite trying every leather/rejuvinator made)... I recommend sun shade up and towel was a great idea I wish was used in mine

I believe most, if not all, modern vehicle glass have UV protection. That's why transition lenses are useless in cars....

I was going to say the same thing. Transitions don't work in many if not all modern cars because of the uv protection in the glass

Yes most if not all cars have had UV glass for years and years. I have the new "driving" Transitions (had them for about a year) and although they don't tint much, they do actually tint slightly in the car. I think they told me about 20% but I cant remember for sure. They tint more in my 02 LS than they did in my 07 TLS. I just got my windows tinted last week so now they really only noticeably tint when you are heading into brightness.
